Mom Life Style Tips for Moms
The Basics of WAHM Style
You're working from home and things are good, right?
One of the drawbacks to working at home is how easily you can slip into laziness when it come to style and your appearance. Especially when you're working long hours at home! Many moms who work from home often say things like "I am working in my pyjamas!". While that's well and good on some days, most of the time it's just laziness. Don't turn into a messy haired crazy-lady just because you are working from home, OK?
Let me ask you a question....Are you wearing sweatpants right now? Hhhhhmmmm....I think we need to start with the basics. Here we go!
- Shower every day. Yes, I know this may sound like a strange thing to say here, but you would be amazed at how many stay at home moms struggle to find the time to take a shower every day. It helps you feel clean, refreshed, and energized for the day. Trust me - shower each morning with some nice uplifting shower gel and a good loofah scrubber! Invigorating!
- Get dressed right away. Pyjamas say "sleep" - clothes say "work". Send your body and your family the right message. "I am ready for work." First thing in the morning, I wake up, shower, and get dressed (including shoes) before I do anything else. Once I am dressed, I am fully awake and ready to tackle the day.
- Choose stylish but comfortable clothes. There are a lot of comfy, stylish clothes available that will not break the bank. Stay away from sweatpants if you can. If someone rings the doorbell, you'll feel confident answering the door dressed nicely. One simple tip is to wear earrings. For some reason, wearing earrings can help remind you that you're more than just a mom. Plus - they're pretty, and that's nice too!
Shapewear is Essential
Additional WAHM Style Tips
- Leave your sweatpants at home. If at all possible, don't wear sweatpants or sweatsuits outside. It's not a good look unless you're on your way to yoga or the gym.
- Throw out all your old clothes. Anything that no longer fits, is out of style, you don't like, it's the wrong color, you've never worn it - Throw it out! Grab a giant garbage bag and fill it up. Drive it right over to your local charity store and donate it.
- Find some dark denim jeans that fit you well. It's worth bringing a friend along if you're unsure. Dark denim works wonders for women - invest in a good pair of jeans!
- Shapewear and Undergarments are essential! Everyone wears shapewear now because it is so effective. Women of all shapes and sizes use it to help smooth out the lumps and bumps. It's perfect for smoothing out your waist and eliminating the dreaded "muffin top"!
- Design a uniform for yourself. It helps me to have a "uniform" that I wear each day. It's kind of boring, I know, but I am not the "queen of chic style"! I have some nice, stretchy black pants which I can team up with a number of different tops, sweaters, and shoes. Keeping your wardrobe streamlined helps eliminate that decision in the morning "What should I wear?" Just grab your uniform and go!

That is so true for stay at home moms! Sometimes half the day would pass and I would still be in my pajamas enjoying the luxuary of working from home. However, I quickly realized I was much more productive with my day when I put myself first...getting dressed for the day etc. My problem wasn't laziness as I'm a VERY hard worker, but as most moms can attest to...we work hard and slide a bit on ourselves. Thanks for the reminder to keep it up :)
