A Dream Come True?

It's true. Mothers can work from home in a legal, legitimate, industry.

In fact, there are many options out there where "stay at home moms" can earn a serious living online. The only problem is you need to "weed" through the scams and the sleaze-bags to find the legit operations.

FIRST OF ALL: I am not selling anything. I am not writing this hub to sell an e-book or software or network marketing opportunity. I am genuinely excited by the fact that I get to work from home every day and I love to help other mothers find their passion so they can do the same. You can access my blog from my profile page. I am happy to help if you have questions, OK?

By the end of this "hub" you will know how to become a successful working mother. I have done it and I know of many others who have done it as well. We have a blueprint for you to follow, and we've agreed to share it here with you.

Consider this....

Becoming a work at home mom can really help bring in some extra money during these tough economic times. The hours can be flexible, and usually you can work at any time of the day or night. An extra $10 a day would provide your family with an extra $70 every week. That adds up to $280 every month! What could you do with an extra $280 every month? Imagine instead that you earned an extra $100 a day. That is $700 a week and $2800 a month!! That amount of money could really make a difference to your life. If you're just looking for a little extra cash, or need to replace your full time income, it may be worth considering some work at home options.

Is It Really Possible for Me?

Millions of people are excited by the thought of working at home. A job from home allows mothers considerably more flexibility, extra time with their family and can alleviate the stress which may result from an active career, long commute, and child care requirements.

People search the internet everyday in hopes of finding financial freedom from the comfort of their own home. Unfortunately, the internet is littered with work at home scams. There are hundreds of companies which promote 'get rich quick schemes' or 'guaranteed' opportunities to make a living from home. Scams include, but are not limited to, envelope stuffing, mail order, pyramid schemes, medical billing, typist jobs and numerous other ways to make money.

So how do you know which opportunities are legitimate and which are not?

Fortunately, there are actually legitimate money making opportunities available on the internet. Many people do earn a good living on the internet. There are people who make millions on the internet and are living the life all of us would like to live. Many more, however, earn an income comparable to their salary or, in many cases, higher.

Many legitimate telecommuting jobs from qualified employers exist. A significant number of them do require some type of skill, but that does not mean you need a college degree to earn a living on the internet. The internet is full of opportunities, and all types of persons from all over the world are making their dreams come true by working at home.

Blueprint for Work at Home Moms

Here is our Blueprint for How to Become a Work at Home Mom.

  1. Determine how much money you need/want to earn. This will tell you if you need to look for part time or full time work choices. The earning potential with online businesses is huge, so instead of focusing on your dreams (I'd like to earn $1 million each month) we suggest starting with the basic necessities (I'd like to pay our mortgage $1300 each month). We'll get to "thinking big" and the possibilities later on! =)
  2. What are you good at? What do you know? What jobs have you had in your life? Are you an expert in any field? These questions will help guide you towards your eventual work at home career path. When you are working at home, we believe it is important to enjoy your work. You'll need to be self-motivated and keep yourself on track. It helps a lot if you are passionate about what you do.
  3. Look for legitimate work at home opportunities. Forum boards like wahm.com and WorkPlaceLikeHome.com are great, supportive forums for mothers who work from home and are looking to work from home. JobsForMoms.com is another good resource. Affiliate marketing and internet marketing in general are good options too. For guidance with this, check out my blog.
  4. Beware of scams! If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. With the growing number of women looking to work from home, Moms have become a huge target for the scam artists. Legitimate work opportunities take time, effort, and work. Stay far away from anything that even slightly resembles "assemble crafts from home" or "stuff envelopes from home" or "process samples from home", etc. There are many legitimate businesses out there. Check out some of the resources below for guidance. No scams there.
  5. Spread the word! Once you have chosen your business/job, have business cards printed. Tell your friends and family about your business. Get the word out and look for networking opportunities everywhere you go. If you have the skills, design a basic website/blog to promote your business.
  6. Stay motivated! Working from home can be challenging. Find ways to keep yourself motivated and on track. I like to have small goals and big goals. Celebrate when you achieve a small goal! You have worked hard and you deserve to celebrate your achievements! I have written other hubs on this very topic. There are some easy and fun ways to keep yourself on track and motivated to achieve your goals.
